Sundays, 9:40am
Ryan Barry Library, 4th Floor
Led by Union Seminary Intern Ray Altman
Hey,
People of God…Wake up!!
Looking
at Isaiah's history, legacy,
and
contemporary application
The adult Bible study is led by our Union Student Intern, Ray Altman, assisted by Kevin Nelson. Our weekly adult
bible study meets on Sunday mornings from 9:40-10:40 in the Ryan Barry Library on the 4th floor.
This summer we'll be looking at the book of Isaiah - its historical contexts, the many themes it offers, and what it has
to say about contemporary issues in the church and the world. All are welcome to join our lively and friendly gathering!
Each
week we will take a closer look at selected passages and explore their
historical context.
Who
might have these passages have been written by and for?
What
was happening in the political, cultural, and religious atmospheres of
the day?
What might these passages have meant to the people who heard and read them?
We
will also discuss what these observations can offer our contemporary situations
and sentiments.
What do these words from Isaiah mean to us?
What
can we learn about our own political, cultural, and religious atmospheres
from this book?
What
might God be saying to people then and people today through Isaiah?
