Marva Usher Kerr

Marva Usher Kerr, will be PAUMC's seminary intern from New York Thological Seminary. She will be with us this year as our seminary
intern. Marva specifically will be working with the Sunday School
and with Space 4 Grace.

Marva has been a faithful member of The United Methodist Church for the past 25 years, Marva has been active at every level of the denomination, from her local church, where she served as Chair of the Council on Ministries, to the 2004 General and Jurisdictional Conferences, to which she was elected as a delegate by the New York Annual Conference. She was also elected to be a delegate in 2008.

In the past few years, she has led workshops on events such as Advanced Lay Speaker courses and Laity Officers training. She is gifted in demonstrating technology in ministry workshops and youth leadership events.

In her home church, John Wesley United Methodist Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., She has planned and led the contemporary worship service on second Sundays of each month. Its primary focus is to reach out to the young and unchurched. She has received a Certification in Evangelism from the UM Church.

Marva has a long history of service with United Methodist Women (UMW).
For 15 years, she held most local and conference offices in the national organization, concluding in 2003 with the end of her term as Conference President. In addition, she has been the treasurer for the New York Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR) for 10 years.

She will bring a high level of energy to our church. She approached Pastor Bill to work here because of the reputation of Park Avenue and it's willingness to help seminarians learn in a multi-cultural environment.
